Another EBM Izihirwa car taken away at RRA

Mwema Bahati: Rwanda Revenue Authority handed over the second car of EBM Izihirwa lottery and draw campaign to Aaron Uwimana this Friday in Kigali. The latter emerged winner of the renowned lottery last month as the live draw was taking place at Rwanda Television. Uwimana commended the tax administration for the fair and transparent lottery draw from which he became a lucky winner. He believes that the car prize will transform his life by facilitating his daily businesses. “I had transport issues in my business operations for my living but now that I get this car, my transport is going to be easy,” Uwimana pointed out. Mr. Pascal Ruganintwari, Deputy Commissioner General   who presided over that handover ceremony commended Mr. Uwimana for his good habit of asking EBM and having played the lottery until he wins the car prize. He noted that every consumer who asks for EBM invoice during his purchases is a winner in a sense that the inclusive VAT in the invoice is beneficial to all citizens as taxes contribute to national political, socioeconomic transformation.   He therefore called all business community to give EBM invoices to their clients and urged the consumers to ask EBM invoices as an enforcement model for VAT collection.  Over 300 prizes have been offered to EBM Izihirwa lottery players, costing the tax administration over Rwf43 million. People enter the lottery by dialing *800# and follow instructions. EBM remains the key driver of VAT collection and the promise of Rwandan prosperity in general. The Deputy Commissioner General explained that since the introduction of EBM in year 2013, VAT increases annually 25% on average. The tax administration eyes second generation EBM, whereby smart EBM will help to maximize revenues from all potential taxpayers.
