Gatsibo: Taxpayers commend tax information acquired

Taxpayers expressed their satisfaction on this Friday as they were trained on tax information on Friday 2nd November 2018 in Gatsibo district, Eastern Province. The presentation was centered on different types of taxes, deadlines, obligations and right of taxpayers, including registration and de-registration, tax laws in order to help business people to be more self-compliant with fiscal obligations. The presentation was made by Joselyne Umuhire, a Tax education officer at Rwanda Revenue Authority along with other colleagues leading tax operations in the district who intervened to answer different question pertaining to tax as they were asked by participant taxpayers. Adrien Kinyunguti, the regional coordinator of RRA in East commended the business operators for their commitment to abide by tax obligation urging more will to contribute to the national development through tax. Charles Nkusi, the chairman of Private Sector Federation in Gatsibo district commended the tax administration for having organized the education session for the sake of knowledge to business operators in that area. He said that the federation will ensure that the member get to know about taxes and comply with their tax obligation as good citizens. “Tax is something that we always place among top priorities. We ensure you that we won’t go backward regarding tax compliance.” Tax education is one of the biggest and key strategies undertaken by Rwanda Revenue Authority as it believes that once people are fully educated, behavior change will be possible and therefore cooperative tax compliance will be achieved and the ultimate result will be collecting sufficient revenues to respond to the national needs.
