RRA introduces new approach to strengthen the use of EBM

The Management of Rwanda Revenue Authority has introduced a new approach to strengthen the sensitization and use of Electronic billing machines among taxpayers.

This is in line with the government’s need to improve the collection and compliance of Value Added Tax through the use of electronic billing machines that were introduced in March 2013 to all VAT registered taxpayers. Since then, a lot of efforts have been conducted to ensure its usage by all targeted taxpayers.

The new approach dubbed “My EBM Invoice” is a rigorous move by the tax body to reach at every EBM user’s premises/shop and discuss together about the obligations of using the machine, existing laws and regulations as well as the challenges and likely penalties

The campaign will also act as a platform for RRA and Taxpayers for further communication by allowing both parties to share constructive ideas on how to jointly enforce the use of the machine.
